Vanita was born in Wai , India , a small town by the foothills of the Sahyadri mountains. As a child, she was intrigued by the dynamic scenery and beautiful mountains of Wai and was always eager to sketch the breathtaking landscape. She completed her M.A. English as well as in fine arts and continued painting throughout college, doing solo and group exhibitions and winning several awards. Her first major recognition as an artist came in the final year of her B.A. when she won the ‘Best Artist' award in an intra-university competition. Since then, for the past thirty years she has done many shows all over the world in cities like New York, Boston, Jubail, Baghdad, Pune, Mumbai and Wai. She has been featured in several art magazines in India and is an avid writer.
